Set in the 35,000 acre private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, the camp offers the ability to traverse 3 spectacular regions teeming with wildlife and outstanding predator densities.
Accommodation & Facilities
After the recent renovations, the camp is still intimate and still has just 7 (rather grand) tents for guests. Featuring large wood doors from Lamu, the camp reflects ancient Swahili culture, as well as honouring the history of the Masaai with deep reds and purples, and dashes of leather, copper and brass to represent colonial times. Rooms are extremely spacious and open, with outstanding vistas of your surroundings at all times. All tents are en-suite with lavish bathrooms and even come with a complimentary set of professional Canon 7D camera and lenses and a pair of Swarovski 42x10 HD binoculars for use during your stay.
The main areas of the camp reflect the rooms, grand and comfortable in design, with recycled 70 year old wooden floors from old train stations and stunning chandeliers from the trains.
Dining
As with the game drives, the meals are centred entirely around you and the wildlife, meaning you can enjoy your time without worrying about missing a meal. Either there will be one waiting for you when you return, or they will bring something out to you. Full English breakfasts are available along side fresh fruit, cereals and toast for breakfast. Lunch is usually an outdoor 3 course meal and dinner is either served in the main dining area or over looking the plains, watching on as hippos graze at the grass.
Activities
Early morning and late afternoon game drives are in fully open 4x4 vehicles for all round visibility, great for viewing the outstanding wildlife. Balloon safaris, guided walking safaris and visits to the local village are also available.
Mara Plains Camp also gives you the opportunity for your own private drive using their camera equipment, designed to help budding photographers acquire their perfect shot.

Responsible Tourism
Mara Plains Camp was built with eco-tourism in mind and to minimise environmental impact. The construction is completely cement free meaning the camp can be completely removed without a trace. To limit the area of covered ground, each area is on a raised platform and the rooms only have 3 ‘feet’. Mara Plains is hoping to be 100% solar in the near future and they responsibly utilise the river water. The brand new Mara Plains Camp is one of the greenest camps ever built, following in the footsteps of accommodations such as Zarafa Camp in Botswana.
