This 12 bed classic, semi-permanent tented camp is set above the pretty Bisanadi River, is situated on the edge of Meru National Park and Bisanadi National Reserve, giving easy access to both areas for some ‘wild’ game viewing – away from the masses. With a wide variety of landscapes and habitats, it is dominated by savannah, yet has swamps and riverine forest. The excellent game viewing opportunities include lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, black & white rhino, eland, Beisa oryx, Grant’s gazelle, Grevy’s zebra, lesser kudu and reticulated giraffe, as well as over 280 bird species.
There are six elegant and comfortably furnished tents, each with a large iron bed. En-suite bathrooms include traditional 'bucket showers' and flushing toilets. There is 24 hour solar lighting in the tents.

Setting
This camp is set above the pretty Bisanadi River - a murmuring stream lined with palms and shaded by large Acacia tortilis trees. Offbeat Meru Camp has superb access to the rolling hills and thick forests of Meru National Park, as well as Bisanadi National Reserve - a true wilderness area. Both are fantastic for wildlife.
Accommodation & Facilities
The spacious tents are elegantly furnished with large iron beds and feature en-suite bathrooms with traditional 'bucket showers' and flushing toilets. Tents receive 24 hour solar lighting and the main camp areas are lit by traditional tilly lamps.
The communal lounge tent has comfortable sofas, a writing table, a fully stocked bar and a good selection of reading material. Informal dining is hosted in the mess tent or by the open fire, overlooking the river.
Offbeat Meru Camp also has a swimming pool - great for a refreshing dip after game drives.
Dining
Delicious meals are served either inside or outside in the open-air.
Activities
Day and night-time game drives in custom-designed Land Cruisers and guided bush walks with bush meals and sundowners are available. The camp also arranges Boran tribal community visits, access to a 44 km² Rhino Sanctuary and fishing excursions.
