Lodge Details
Style
An intimate and luxurious eco-lodge.
Setting
Overlooking the Loita Hills and bushland of South West Kenya, Olarro Camp is in a private conservancy, set inside a larger ranch owned by the Masaai community.
Accommodation & Facilities
Olarro’s 6 suites are all co-joined by a communal area, consisting of a lounge, bar, sundeck and Northern lounge – which has 180 degree vistas of the stunning surroundings. The pool is split level for higher privacy and consists of lots of smaller interlinked pools. Each suite has a fully equipped en-suite bathroom with a rainfall shower as well as a private patio area.
Olarro Cottage is set on 2 levels and features a master bedroom as well as a smaller twin room, both of which have fantastic and luxurious en-suite facilities. The cottage stands alone, further away from the main area than the other suites, so it has its own lounge & dining area, veranda, fully equipped kitchen and massage room!
Olarro features wi-fi thoughout the main areas and each room has a hairdryer, mini bar and 24 hour electricity. There is a Mini Spa, also, which provides a range of luxury relaxation treatments.
Dining
Guests in the main Olarro dine either in the Northern lounge overlooking the savannah or at the poolside table under the stars. Bush dining is arranged in specially chosen locations around the conservancy to watch the sunset or a picnic table can be set up. Food is fresh and Olarro only uses the finest ingredients.
Guests in Olarro cottage have their own private lounge and dining areas to choose from.
Activities
There is an abundance of activities at Olarro, including bush walks, mountain biking and bird watching all with a specialised guide. There are day and night game drives; night drives use infra red vision binoculars to spot the nocturnal animals with minimal disturbance. Cultural safaris to the local Masaai village and photographic safaris are also available.
Child Policy
Children are very welcome and well catered for. Olarro has a juniors' adventure club where children can join a fully qualified guide in hiking the Loita Hills, learning about tribal life, tracking wildlife and even making and shooting a bow and arrow, all in a light-hearted and entertaining manner. The club is suitable for children 6 and up, however parental supervision is recommended. There is also a children’s menu available.
Responsible Travel
Olarro aim to make a self sustaining tourist operation and to improve the life of the Masaai community. The lodge uses an eco-friendly design – made out of local materials – and uses solar and wind energy to power the lodge, as well as a ‘bio box plant’ to recycle waste water so it can be use on the gardens.
